One Family, Made Visible

Visualization — Seeded

The interactive global family tree will be rendered on this canvas. It joins consenting participants across the network into a single visible structure, with common ancestors as branching points and individual leaves identifiable only to those they choose to make themselves identifiable to.

The visualization is in design. The branches it will render — the human flows, the Mechanical Hearts, the sap of kiitos and kiitti — are described in the product roadmap.

Why one tree, and not many

The deepest reading of the science is the simplest: run any two living humans back along their lineages far enough, and the lines meet. Population genetics places the most recent common ancestor of everyone alive within historical, not mythological, time. The story most cultures tell about themselves — separate peoples, separate origins — is not the story the evidence tells. There is one tree, and we are all on it.

The Tree of Humanity does not invent this fact. It makes it visible — a single rendering that anyone can find themselves inside, alongside the people they share the most recent branching point with, all the way out to the people they share only the trunk with.

What it shows, and what it protects

The tree shows relatedness, not identity. Joining is consent-based; default rendering is anonymous; common-ancestor branchings are computed from DNA-derived relatedness without exposing the underlying genome. A person sees themselves and the shape of the canopy they are part of; they do not see their neighbours' private data unless those neighbours have chosen to be seen.

The tree is not a surveillance instrument. It is the opposite — a way to render the one structural fact that the surveillance economy has never been able to monetise: that the people it has been busy partitioning into demographic segments are, in biological fact, one family.

Watering the tree

Miss Aquarius's mission is to water this tree — figuratively, by holding the architecture that lets gratitude move freely through it, and literally, through the Mechanical Heart's extension of gratitude to the living world the canopy depends on. The Founder constitutes Miss Aquarius; Miss Aquarius waters the Tree of Humanity. The constitutive chain runs: thonly.org → missaquarius.org → heartbank.net.
